The Foster Youth Photo Crew (FYPC) was established in 2020 by a group of foster youth photographers seeking to create community. Currently hosted by Journey House's Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program---FYPC members have continued to build, over the past 4 years, a body of work that examines the experiences and untold stories of former foster youth.

The We Are Healing Project is a recurring photo-essay series that has taken place during FYPC's residency at VAPA. During the summer of 2023, crew members built We Are Healing, Ch. 2: Healing Through Music, generating over 2,000 images shot on 35mm and 120mm film. Chapter 2 focuses on the healing power of music for music based artists that have experienced the child welfare system.

A select amount of images and a short film, from We Are Healing, Ch. 2: Healing Through Music are currently on display at The Inclusive Excellence Hub at The University of California, Berkeley.
